Ice box poll

Ok so im pricing parts later tonight and probably building my first prototype this weekend.

This is to judge how many people would like one and what you would like to see it cost.
Im not here to make money off of it, but the more your will to spend the better the parts.

PS any spicific you would like to see in it?
This will be a closed loop system, as in the cooling item doesnt mix with the dexcol fluid.

I'd like to see it less than $100...but realistically for your time and stuff to make it then I know it would be over $100, but less than $150. How about putting everything needed for the kit together for $80 and ship it to the person with directions and they can put it together themselves or pay the extra bucks and you can build it for them!?!?!? I like that idea a lot!

Its going to be a custome fab job, all parts hopefully will be found at local stores ect, the main part im gong to use i get 20% off from a buddy.

The box its self has to be welded together, so its water tight/air tight so if ya feel comfortable i can ship just all the parts for cost and shipping once i get a part list and proto type built.

Im hoping parts will be under 80$+fab time+shipping so hopefully not more then 125-150 with good parts.

PS: the box is gong to be primaraly designed to use dry ice(-100% or so) but will also use ice, and have a drain for water/ice

Alright, well I might be in...my fiance's dad owns a sheet metal shop though so I don't know why I never thought of just going to him to see if he could do it.

Just to let you know..an ICE (mixing ice with the intercooler coolant) will only last for one run. Dry ice will last a bit longer, but not have as much of an affect on the coolant.. Rice Eater could fill you in on more..he's done more testing than I was there for.

Nothing is going to be mixing, inside the box is going to basicly be a radiator core in witch you can pack dry ice, ice or water or what ever, hell ya could put hot coals in there if ya wanted to heat it up.
The coolant will not be mixings, as i do not want to have to drain and refill dex cool after every run.

For the matter of only needing it while we are at the track, why not just lay a bag of ice over the s/c? The cost of building and time to put together...ehhh ??

+1 ^^^^^ Rice has good input on this. It won't be an all day benefit. Like I told him, I think there is a market if the price is $100-$150.

I started parts shopping myself, but wanted to wait to see what Rice had thrown together first.

As of now, I'm thinking I can get a pre-fabbed "can" for $50 and the rest of the miscellaneous parts for about $25...the container should be the hardest part, which is why I figured a pre-made one would cut fabrication time down significantly.

Maybe we should compare ideas and see what's what???
