Those w/ SFPHQ pulleys

I just recently got my 3.0 pulley from South Florida Pulley HQ do I need a smaller belt??

Most likely not. I am running a SFPH 3.0 with the stock idler/belt and it works fine. Sometimes on real wet days it will squeel for a second when you turn on the car.

Never had a problem with mine. I think 3" is about as low as I'd go for the stock belt and tensioner.

You could buy the GM Stage 2 belt if you were worried about it.

They told me I would need a shorter belt to make sure there is no slip

I have the non-slip 3.0 and 2.8 and they are both very nice. I'm running the GMPP smaller belt with them, no slip with it, but I had some minor slip with the stock belt, even with the 3.0.

There's nothing quite like a sneeze in the middle of an S-curve (fine, it's a freaking chicane!) at 90mph while trying to pass on the inside (of the second portion of the curve).....

No, I got the SFPH 3.0 (cross cut) and am stage 2. No slippage.

I got a ZZP 3" and have had no problems with it slipping.
