Thumbs up Cobra HE / BWoody Brackets logged w/ HP Tuners

Just got back from the logging the temps. I had the A/C on the entire time, and I'm running a bottle of DEI Chill Charger. Mike (wasntme) has some pics he'll post up later, so you can see how/where it was mounted.

First of all, I've gotta say: These brackets are the shizznit. Mike was hanging on my heat exchanger, doing chin-ups... and he's not a small man. Just for shits and giggles, I gave the exchanger a few kicks and it didn't budge. 4 bolts into the front bumper make for one solid mounting.

Anyway...
At Idle: IAT1=105* IAT2=145*
At 40mph: IAT1=100* IAT2=125*
At 70mph: IAT1=99* IAT2=115*
Sitting in traffic after 30 min on the highway: IAT1=115* IAT2=147*

The car felt every bit as strong after sitting in traffic as it did when I was just starting out. I'm going to take it back out tonight, and see what kinda temps I can get. Last night w/ the stock exchanger, I couldn't get below 135*, so we'll see how it does.

All in all: Good stuff!

That's not bad...so pretty safe/fair to say you can/will see a 10-20* drop in temps...??? And that's running it IN-LINE with the stock HE, correct? How long did you let the thing run to get the air bubbles out - gotta figure that would effect SOME of the performance as well, no?

The NEXT step is to get a car on the dyno before/after adding the Cobra HE, THEN do a before/after of adding the SuperCooler...

I MIGHT look into getting this done in the next week or so, but funds are a little tight after the move...we'll see.

Yes, it's inline w/ the stock HE. I got a considerable amount of the bubbles out, but I'm sure more will come out over the next day or two. I could see when I hit a bubble, b/c IAT2 would jump up 10+ degrees and then jump back down.

I have the dynos from the Supercooler in front of me. I'll scan them shortly and post in the BWoody vendor section.

And tonight's run, which wasn't as picture perfect. This time w/ no A/C...

At Idle: IAT1=105* IAT2=135* (still hot from before, I guess)

Right after I start driving, I saw a major spike in temperature, and had to pull over and burp a rather large air pocket from the system.

At 40mph: IAT1=85* IAT2=111*

Car was running STRONG. Broke the tires loose in 1st at 4500 RPM. Shifted to 2nd, and that's right about when a P0068 kicked me in the nuts. Pulled over, cleared the code, and I was back on the road.

At 70mph: IAT1=81* IAT2=95*

As I got back into traffic, the 350Z that was riding my ass tried to pass me. That didn't go so well for him. Several car length's worth of "not so well." That made me feel better about the P0068.

Cobra Heat Exchanger: 1
Overpriced sports car: 0

And back at idle: IAT1=95* IAT2=130*

So... $50 says my TB is dirty as smegg and when I pull my K&N off, it's going to be filled w/ oil/water sludge, and possibly a dead mouse. Any takers?

If you can get THAT with JUST the HE, I'm about ready to splooge just THINKING about that BWoody SuperCooler - don't tell the g-f!

Congrats man on the install. I received my Bwoody brackets today and now I am just waiting to get my Heat Exchanger in the mail.(I can't wait!) I have been logging my IAT1 and IAT2 this past week as I drive so that I can compare the results. Here in St. George, UT the temps get WELL over 100* during the summer so I am hoping for some major improvement.
