Interceptor Observations

Now that I've had my interceptor for 2 weeks, I just wanted to share some of the things I've found and see what everyone's opinions are...

First things first - I'm 100% stock right now.

LTFTs - ran and recorded 5 WOT runs yesterday through first 3 gears. My LTFTs are ranging from -12.4 to -8.5 throughout. Checked narrowband O2 voltage vs. LTFT - minus all the bouncing around, ~850mV seemed to be the most constant values. I think 1V O2s usually read from 850mV to 950mV, correct? No wideband yet, but I'm thinking this car is running so rich I'm scared I'll have a plugged cat in the next 10k mi.

Knock - none yet that I'm worried about. I'll see .3 or .5 degrees during shifts, probably phantom knock. According to LTFTs and NB O2, I'm no where close to running lean anywhere in the RPM range, so I'm guessing it's just the change in engine load during shifts.

IAT1 vs IAT2 - Its been warmer and more humid than usual the last couple weeks. Seeing IAT1 temps well above 100*. WOT driving, I see usually a 28* or 32* difference. I did notice that it's hard to drop IAT2 temps once they are 140* or higher, no matter on speed, rpms, or engine load. I'm guessing that is where heat soak sets in.

Let me know what you think. I'm still pretty new at this.

The car's run rich stock... NB O2's read from like 100mv to 999mv, but it's really hard to use that as any sort of accurate guide.

The car thinks it knocks down low and between shits.. again, nothing unual.

Unfortunatly a NB AFR can't tell you much as far as running lean/rich. They are set up mainly for creuising AFRs like 14:1, not WOT AFRs which should be around 12:1.

Also, there are a LOT of things other than AFR that can cause knock. Being that your stock, and havn't touched the PCM, there would be no reason to se any knock except for maybe 'tip-in' knock caused by sudden, unexpected throttle positions, but that's normal and not harmful.

I think I have the next $300 spent already - LC-1, and credits for, as SLS calls it, Dan.SPEC tune.

um.. "dan.spec" woudl require 60# and 2.5/2.6" pulley, so your looking for a lot more than just $300. That's 400ish right there WITH OUT the LC-1 and the credits

+10000000 on the LC-1...

How do you feel about wiring?? I just installed it to take the place of my stock O2 sensor and output to my HP Tuners box.

If you can afford the full version with the gauge face, I'd get it. Great way to be sure what you're seeing from it's output matches what it's reading. Plus, it's useless to you without HPT... Oh, you can go to the Inteceptor with it... duh...

My plan is to send it to the interceptor and replace the NB with the 1v output from the LC-1. I don't want to install/tune without it.

Quick question for you since you're good with HPT. Can you 'tune down' the 60# inj to run like a 3.0" pulley with them? I'm thinking about getting the mod pulley system with a 3.0" and a 2.6". I know I'll need 2 tunes and HPT to change between them, but that would be perfect (small increase for the street and pump gas, and big increase for track days/race fuel).

Yeah, I realize that. I've already got the money set aside for the pulley/injectors/tensioner etc just need to hit the checkout button Just don't want to buy them yet until I get the LC-1 installed and can get a tune. I'm gonna go with the ZZP 2.6"/60# inj and adjustable tensioner so I can go back to stock if needed fairly easliy.

You dont really have to 'tune down' the injectors. If they air flow isn't there, it won't use the gas. Won't be as effecient as smaller injecotrs (but not too bad). Also.. I hope your not getting the 2.6" bc you don't want to machine the snout bc.. it won't fit. I only know of 3 people with it, all say it dosn't fit (me included). You still have to grind that motha down.

I think Dan installed Jon's 2.6 w/o any problems, but I'm not worried about machining down the snout if I need to. I wanna go 2.6 to keep up with those two when we meet at the track

Well, if your ok with machining the snout, why not go to a 2.5" like dan?
