Magnaflow 2.5" Catback
Stainless, Mandrel bent 2.5" Catback system. $600+ ($604 through Turbo Tech Racing)
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...=Sport&id=1003
that seems like a nice setup to me.

what is everyones thoughts on this?

it should be a better gain i would think then just getting 2.5 axle back abd putting a dynomax muffler on there.

let me know.

Here are some flow rate calculations from another thread.

Stock Exhaust manifold ("Header") : 425 CFM.
Stock Downipe (DP) with cat : Plus or minus 370 CFM or less.
Stock Cat-back Exhaust (2,5" inlet to 2,25" outlet with stock muffler) : 300 CFM.

Now here are some replacement parts :

GMPP Exhaust manifold ("Header") : (30 more CFM than stock) : 455 CFM.
Shorty or long tube Header with 1,75" primaries and 2,5" outlet : at least 500 CFM.
Shorty or long tube Header with 1,75" primaries and 3" outlet : at least 725 CFM.
Shorty header with 1,5" primaries and 2" outlet : Waay not enough, who cares LOL.

Stock DP w/o cat : 425 CFM.
2,5" DP with VERY HIGH FLOW cat : plus or minus 450 CFM.
2,5" DP w/o cat : 500 CFM.
2,75" DP with VERY HIGH FLOW cat : plus or minus 475 CFM.
2,75" DP w/o cat : 600 CFM.
3" DP with VERY HIGH FLOW cat : plus or minus 500 CFM.
3" DP w/o cat : 725 CFM.

Stock catback with only the rear muffler replaced (the last portion is still in 2,25" tubing) : 350 CFM.
Stock catback with last portion replaced for 2,5" tubing and straight through muffler : 450 CFM.
2,5" catback : From 450 to 500 CFM (must be a straight through muffler).
2,75" catback : From 550 to 600 CFM (must be a straight through muffler).
3" catback : From 650 to 725 CFM (must be a straight through muffler).

Hope this can help ...

Regards )
IMO I would suggest picking a desired flow rate and replacing parts until you get what you are looking for.

What your looking at would be "Stock catback with last portion replaced for 2,5" tubing and straight through muffler : 450 CFM." But if your down pipe is still only flowing 370CFM you are not going to see the full potential of your exhaust. So just something to mull over....

And keep in mind that bigger is not always better.

Edit:

[SIZE=1]It all depends on how much money you want to spend. Since I bought a GMPP Extruded honed manifold then I should set my CFM goal at 450.

But that would mean that I would have to get a high flow cat and either a new catback system or replace the bend over the axle and a straight through muffler.
If I set my goal at 425 I could get a way with gutting my cat and a catback system or replace the bend over the axle and a straight through muffler.

Its all comes down to the all mighty dollar!!

Leave it up to boose to pull the thread into the gutter!

Fat chicks aside I was talking speficially about an exhaust system. Right now between RLF and the shortbus you can find 10 3" cat-back systems for sale. Try to find a used 2.25 or 2.5 aftermarket cat-back system. Good Luck!

Has anyone over here tried the Megan 2.5" catback system? The shortbus is eating it up!

I'm personally going with the GMPP Exhaust (2.25") because of the sound & also the nice gains from it.

But then again I'm not doing any engine mods at all to my car

So if you plan on doing some mods, then go with the 2.5" Magnaflow (which has great gains too)

Get it here for a good price....$454.91 with FREE SHIPPING....add it to your cart to see the price:

http://www.performancepeddler.com/SC...el=ION&sCtrl=Y

I've bought many things from them & they're somewhat local to me (40 mins. away) & very reputable & actually an authorized Magnaflow distributor

They're on ebay too BTW

If that is the case you will have no need to upgrade your manifold or dp. The cat-back will be the most restrictive part of your setup. I have not been able to find any technical info on the GMPP cat-back systems but I would estimate that it would flow around 325-350 CFM.

I really wish this flow rate info was available sooner. I probably would have bought a cat-back before I bought the GMPP Manifold. Because adding a GMPP extruded-honed manifold to a stock exhaust should not improve performance.

Well the downpipe is the most restrictive part I believe...doesn't it get REALLY narrow??

I could care less though about the size.....they say 10 hp & a few more tq and it's got a good sound.

Plus I'm getting it for a great price too
