I seem to remember Spooner or somebody saying that the stock downpipe squeezes down to 2.1" where it meets up with the rest of the exhaust.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Personally I'm thinking of the Vibrant header & downpipe with the same 3" cat-back. This because I plan on seting the engine up to handle a bigger TVS blower, when and if Eaton ever releases them for us.

Here is the rank of most retrictive peices of the stock exhaust.

Muffler 300CFM
2.25" Bend over axel 350CFM
Down Pipe 370 CFM
Manifold 425 CFM

Using the information above I would estimate the GMPP Cat-Back systems to flow 350CFM max. So that is still less then the stock dp.

Hmm...so the muffler is the restriction!

Well then the GMPP exhaust should flow relatively all the same then (as the downpipe)

According to that info. I dont know if it is 100% correct but at least it is something to start out with.

Yeah your exhaust and dp will work good together. If you ever wanted to get big power you would have to upgrade both.

Yeah I have the same problem you do. I get bored and start spending money!! But I am waiting till next spring to finish off my exhaust. 2.5" dp and a full 2.5" cat-back exhaust. I am not sure if I am going to buy a full cat-back system or replace the bend over the axel and muffler.

I think it would be a good idea for a company to sell a replacement peice for our stock system that replaces the bend over the axel. Then provide instructions that any muffler shop can follow. I say that cause I can't find a mandrel pipe bender within 150 miles of me.

Contact CTI (http://www.customtubesinc.com/) they should be able to mandrel bend you a pice, they have made a full 3" Header back system for the RL.

Same exact thing here too I just spend money cuz I'm bored...oh well....its fun at times!!

With the axle back exhaust, that's an awesome idea though....like a template or a good location to have the stock exhaust cut off & then clamp on a new 2.5" mandrel section.....I'm surprised no company has stepped up since a lot of guys (including the Cobalts) have done that to save some $$$$
