Like stated previously, I think that the data you collected is skewed by the diameter and change in the air turbulence with a larger, smoother intake tract.
exactly, the stock intake tubing is larger and flows just as well. You have an interceptor. Go ahead and try it yourself.

No, what I meant was the K&N has a larger and smoother inner diameter, so there is a higher volume in which the air can move, as well as a less turbulent path. Because of that larger area in which the air can move, and not having a larger MAF sensor to compensate, the results are only speculative unless a full bodied MAF sensor is used such as one from a GM V8.

What I have seen using my interceptor is an increase in MAF frequency, increase in boost pressure, and decrease in SCIP at WOT(lower number = less intake restriction). These along with dyno numbers support my case. I'm not by any means discrediting you or saying you are wrong, just pointing out variables along with what I've seen with my car.

^measure the stock intake tubing, then measure the K&N...im not joking, when i say the stock intake tubing is 1/16 to 1/8" larger. the numbers on my graph dont lie. I was only trying to say that the Stock intake flows as well (if not better) than the K&N

who knows for sure...i still ahve to re-test my hypothesis...this time with HPT...

Hmmm...

For that 1 degree drop was the air density the same? From what I can gather the stock systems AIT1 is ony 3-5 degrees higher than ambiant. Given that the air intake on the stock system and the K & N sit in the same place I would say there is limited room for drop in AIT1 over ambiant.

Keep in mind that the intercooler efficiancy is the dominant factor for AIR2 temperatures. A 5 degree drop in AIT1 will equal less than 2 degrees AIT2 given the same ambient temperature.

^when i measured the ambient temp the second time, the temp was waivering between 48-49°...it was later in the evening, and there was NO wind at all...i dont think the humidity would have changed too much in the hour that it took to install the stock box. Both runs are at the same altitude, on the same stretch of road, through the same gears at WOT.

I tried to keep all the variables as similar as possible.

and again, if you want to test the theory yourself, you can, just use the interceptor, and try to repeat the same tests...

I'm just wondering whether or not you had a chance to retest your intake variables. I bought a K&N drop-in that should get here today. BTW, you can get it on AutoAnything.com for $41.99 and free shipping. I don't have an interceptor, but I'll check it with the butt dyno and hopefully it will not have been a waste of money.

Thanks again socal.
