Question Is It Worth Buying The K&n Typhoon

IS IT WORTH BUYING THE TYPHOON, I HAVE AN AEM SHORT RAM RIGHT NOW AND I COULD HEAR THE S/C WHINE UP ALREADY, AND DO U REALLY HAVE TO CHANGE THE CAI WHEN THE WEATHER IS BAD, IT SAYS TO DO SO ON THE MANUAL OR THE WARRANTY WILL BE VOIDED, IS THEIR ACTUAL POWER GAIN OUT OF THE K&N CAI, IS IT REALLY WORTH IT, OR SHOULD GO WITH A STAGE ONE OR TWO KIT INSTEAD OF THE CAI, ALSO I THINK REMAPPING THE ECU IS REQUIRED FOR THE STAGE1 OR 2 KIT, BUT THATS OK, JUST WONDERING IF I SHOULD INVEST IN THE CAI OR A STAGE1 OR 2 KIT INSTEAD, HENCE, I ALREADY HAVE THE AEM SHORT RAM.. SOCAL OR ANYONE LET ME KNOW, I NEED SOME ADVICE, SORRY BUT THE MANUAL ALSO STATED THAT YOU HAVE TO CUT THE PLASTIC WHEEL WELL, ITS NOT A PROBLEM THO, ITS JUST CHANGING THE CAI KIT DURING BAD WEATHER IS REALLY BOTHERING ME, I DONT WANT TO CHANGE THE CAI KIT TO MY SHORT RAM EVERY TIME ITS GOING TO RAIN OR SOMETHING, ALSO THE CODE, WHATS THE CODE ABOUT, THAT DOESNT SOUND TOO GOOD EITHER... HIT ME BACK , PEACE...

I'll do what i can here to help...

first off... turn the caps lock off... lol... some people will give you a HARD time about it, lol..

second... if you have a shortram intake with AEM dry filter, i would just leave it at that. i would put the price of the K&N typhoon kit that you will not feel or notice any more power than what you currently have now with the sram..

the codes people talk about with the k&n is because their stupid... most people run WAY to much oil ON the filter wich makes its way up to the MAF sensor causing the check engine light to come on (codes)...

only get the K&N if you want to hear the SC whine ALOT..

before i bought an intake i was lucky enough to have some local RL guys let me try their stuff out... tried the AEM Sram... tyhpoon and just a k&n drop in filter.... other than noise, didnt feel a damn thing and im pretty in tuned to my car... sounds faster but its not..

put your money towards other mods... keep what you have and look into exhaust, stage 1 or 2, pulley's, dyno tuning..

have fun.

X2. If you want performance gains, spend your money on pulley, injectors, and a tune. The k&n won't do anything but make the blower louder. And yeah, the caps lock = (E-SHOUTING!)

Sorry about the capslock, but thx for the info joe and everyone. I have another question if u dont mind ppl. Im also going to tune up my redline and its going to be the first time since I bought it. What kind of spark plug wires and spark plugs do they sell? Like ngk iridium I know about, do they sell nology wires or greddy plugs, because I really have no clue right now whats available. I would like a stage 1 kit which requires a ecu remapping, hopefully before summer, but I would like a tune up first and maybe slap a new filter so it could breathe better, u know. Leave me some info about the tune up, I would appreciate it. I heard theres going to be a midwest meet at arlington hieghts, sounds bad ass, unfortunately I have to work that weekend...I went to the races last weekend, and some guy was like "saturn", I looked at him like yeah "saturn". Some piece of shit CRX wanted to race me, but I turned his ass down, his car sounded and looked like shit, like your car aint worth the gas bro.. lol allot of ppl dont know about the redlines, which is cool, it makes it even more special... One more thing ppl, how can I get the boost gauge that sits on the steering column? is it a dealership part only and would it fit on my 04 redline?

I made the same mistake with the spark plug wires. They don't sell them, no one does. we have a coil on plug system. which is better then any plug wire out there. as far as plugs go i've read that you only want to go colder once you have put a stage two kit on, or you will get knock. If i'm wrong please correct me.

Nope, just don't over oil it and clean excess oil off.
