have had the typhoon cai on for about 4 months now and the car has never thrown a code as of yet. i have noticed on the colder days below 40 degrees the car really seems to respond well with this intake over the stock one. also was wondering if anyone just for the hell of it had placed one of those {tornados} i think thats what they call them, in our cai and see if it would make any difference? i know they push them to add more mpg but if they correct the air flow for that why would they not work on our cars to correct any turbelance that our cars might have?

it has never been the problem with the high performance car,,its always been the issue of placing that car into the hands of a low performance driver

The fact is the stock RL air cleaner with a K&N element is hard to beat; and the numbers at the start of this thread support all the numbers; the biggest problem with K&N is not the filter, its the monkeys spraying so much oil on it the MAF sensor gets contaminated....the biggest problem with the non stock air cleaners is no power gain and water intrusion (assuming noise isnt an issue) and the biggest problem with the stock filter is, it is trapped in the cradle which has to be dropped to remove the filter box (if you wanted to do so) and it dont look pretty....so cover it in reflective insulation and go stock!...

I cannot count the number of times I have told people this.

However, all the retards swear they need an new piece of pipe because the stock system can't possibly be the best.

interesting (not) the debates on this forum (worse on the .net one) folks who insist that some things are better based on purely anecdotal reasoning, then when someone posts some really good data they all naysay it....oh well

i still stand by my results that the stock airbox is more than sufficient to support this car to well over 400hp. At that point i could see it being a minor restriction... but only due to the size of the inlet-side of the box (easy dremel fix). the 3" tubing is more than enough to flow 500hp.

I re-read your post I assume you had the OEM paper element in the box; putting a properly prepped K&N element5 should make a marginal improvement and knock every other box out of the park....

^you are correct in that assumption. I shortly thereafter put in a K&N E7xxx filter, and ran a 14.2 @99mph. Bone stock motor, no tune.

this is very good information it took a little while of reading 9 pages but very good info. I was actually considering a typhoon kit, I think I may just insulate, drop in and dremel save money for injectors and pulleys. very good info. I'm kinda wondering if this will be the same on SS/SC? a friend of mine who has one is considering the typhoon for it.

I bet it helps at the middle and lower torque and HP band. The supercharged sucks air in, so it really wont help at the top PSI, because the air is being forced into the engine, where N/A engines need every bit of air. Also, its TOTALLY worth it, the sound is awesome!
