Catless CEL Fix w/o HPT?

Anyone have any success with getting rid of the the p0420 w/o HPT? I'm kinda itching to buy my downpipe, but I don't really want to get HPT yet, and the closest person w/ HPT to me is more than a ways away. Now I wouldn't mind driving, but at the same time I would like to just use a temp fix. Anyone?

zfactor posted a fix a while back, check his posts, its basically this:

go down to your local auto parts store, and buy "spark plug defoulers" and then you gotta drill out one of them (for the O2 to fit), and put them in the new DP, then install the O2 sensor, and youre done, no more p0420...

I vaguly remember that, only probelm I have is drilling out a brand new shiney downpipe. I'd rather try an electronics fix if at all possible. Know of anyone who has tried an 02 simulator?

wait...so your DP has no O2 bung?...cause i was saying you have to drill the de-fouler thing (to get the end of the O2 sensor to fit insid ethe de-fouler), not the DP.

i dont think anyone has tried a electronic fix yet, besides canceling all the codes out of the ECU...

I'll have to find that thread and take a closer look. For some reason I thought he was putting it just upstream from the second o2 sensor...

and yes it does work.. ive done a few customers ions this way and they have no cel at all.. lmk if there are any questions
