I'd be more comfortable with you guys cutting out the entire center section and welding a new one with the 6-bolt pattern than welding and re-drilling like that.

I may not be 100% accurate, its been a while since I did the math behind it, I honestly can't remember where I got those numbers.
Actually I'm refering to the change of geometry in the rockers. Hope I don't sound like I'm being pickey. I know you are working with what is available. Looking forward to hearing about the results.

Mike is right. you may change the metaurgy of the crank, at the weld area, not to mention distortion issues.

Edit: Wait are you talking about welding and drilling out the pressure plate cover?

hmm those cams sound good. Same setup I"m planning on using... but since my spare cams got sent out already. I have no idea what kinda grind they are doing . Once I finally get some info back I'll post it up. but I know the whole head is being redone

One of the guys from Bates is going to be calling me in a few, he got in accident and his wife took his phone away from him so he could get some sleep lol, so when I hear back from him I'll ask him what he thinks about the regrind situation with the lifters taking the slack.

I agree. Wouldn't you need lash caps on the valves in addition to shimming the lash adjusters to maintain geometry?

Hmmmm, FT I wonder where all this cam research came from? Could it be a guy thats gone to the dark side and running rice with hot sauce!!!

The shims mearly raise the lifter, and the amount of change in the base circle of the cam is very small in the area of .010". Geometry is not really changed, the fulcrom point is the same along with valve stem length. BTW being that the eco's run roller rockers there is no issue grinding.

BTW I am in the middle of putting my 2.8l stroker together.... STi's are so much more expensive.
