Arrow **Those who replaced the RL control arms with the SS Supercharged Control arm**

hey,

i was wondering what it runs for this swap, and why exactly is it effective?

i work at a chevy dealer and i can get those cheap i assume.

is it a better design? and direct bolt on?

i imagine the rotors and calipers come off and everything connected to the control arm, then its a streight forward swap.

please let me know, i am thinking of pursuing this option

i have traction bars and smm's but im taking off the bars today.

with the drilling out of the control arms and the possible shitty design, i will swap to the ss control arms if it is worth while.

keith-

do they look identical?

As I see it, it is a direct bolt on.

I see no cons to doing this. The pro is that the cobalt pieces are aluminum and should be lighter than the steel RL ones.

If you do this, weigh them and post the difference in weight

^that and the alum arms are going to withstand more tortional force than stamped steel. So less binding of the suspension. Plus...(supposedly) if you add control arm bushings to the Cobalt arms, they are even better...

Indeed my friend, I did. But, I had a reason to as my passenger arm was bent. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise.

perhaps you could answer the offered questions on it then?

eg: why it is/isn't effective, any differences, etc etc... i think u already have elsewhere, but could be a more central (or easily locatable) place to do it here.

I think that it is a reasonable upgrade regardless, and having a employee discount makes it a better idea. The Cobalt arms list for less than the RL ones, anyway. I've not done enough with the car to properly review them, though.

Cause i had the craptastic jbp bushings welded into my stock RL control arms.

And the aluminum arms are lighter meaning less unsprung weight and should be stiffer as well

there is no downside to this swap
