Exhaust System, 2005-07 Cobalt SS "LoudMouth II"
I'm pretty sure the only diff between IRL & 'balt exhausts is the distance between the muffler & tip needs to be longer to get to the edge or the IRL bumper.

This looks like it would be very loud. Just a resonator, no muffler. Wish they gave some gain #s.

I wouldn't think it would be at all good for dd because it's pretty much a racing straight pipe. It would be crazy-loud.

As far as back pressure, that's a touchy topic. I hold the belief that because we have forced induction, we don't need much back pressure. It's good on NA engines because it "scavenges" the cylinders, meaning the exhaust pulse from other cylinders create a vacuum which pulls the exhaust out of subsequently fired cylinders. The blower should be forcing the exhaust out in our case. The cam comes into play with this but that's beyond my knowledage. You may also want some back pressure to help the exhaust flow out of the exhaust system in that with zero pressure, you may have fresh, faster pulses running into old, slower pulses, disturbing the flow.

It's really expensive & even the Cobalt guys don't like it

It wouldn't take much modification to make it fit, like hyperion said, just extend the tip a couple inches

here's a video clip of it:

that thing is loud as hell!

and yes, our cars do need back pressure... have u ever unbolted the midpipe? do it and feel the hp loss

the sc is on the INTAKE manifold, therefore forcing air thru the "front of the motor" which does nothing to "enhance" backpressure. though, w/ turboed cars, you want NO backpressure what so ever, bc it is mounted to the EXHAUST manifold

You'd have to extend the tip a few inches, but also keep in mind that you'd need to change the last exhaust hanger by the tip.

On Cobalts, there are two hangers that stick directly out to the left and right, but on Ion RLs there is a single hanger that goes on the top of the piping.
