Spark Plugs?

What spark plugs are made for the Redline? Or should I say, what spark plugs can be used in it. Also, what determines what kind of plug goes into what kind of car? How do you determine the gap on a plug, is there a way?

I was thinking the same thing this morning. I used both Bosh Platinum and NGK Platinum in my GP but I have no idea yet if they make one that will fit the RL. I assume with the Cobalt SS out there will definately be plug options.

In the GP GTP world we would reference a Web site that talked about adjusting the gap. Basically you would take the stock recommended gap and increase it with more air intake (ie. CAI and smaller pulley) but decrease it with high-flow exhause (due to lower back-pressure).

I'll try to find that site and post it.

Not exactly about ecotec's in particular, but it does a really good job explaining the science of the spark plug in FI engines.

Good read.... Thanks Geo...

i was told that you do not want to use anytype of platinum plugs on a forced induction engine.

Yea, I think I read that in the manual yesterday... I should just look in there for the specific plugs... duh...

Early on we (GP) were all using platinum plugs here. They we started switching back to the stock AC/Delco and in many cases got better results.

It has been a while but if I remember correctly the 1997, 98 & 99 GP GTP had platinum Delco plugs as stock.
