Those who have removed airbox

I am in the process right now of putting the AEM short ram on. I need help ASAP!!! Is it really worth it to remove the bottom of the air box? Im looking more for the whine than performance, is that mostly the box or will the whine be louder if I leave the airbox in? What did you do with the hoses that are on the bottom of box? Has anyone priced a new airbox? I looked at the directions to get the box out without destroying it, and it looks like it will be easier to cut it out, but would like to know that I can get another one if I needed too. Thank you to all who help!!
~Adam

I took mine out. I had to cut it though. As far as getting a new one, my guesse would be to talk to your parts department at your saturn dealer.

don't take it out, it'll sheild the filter from heat.

taking it out and putting it back in without hacking it up isn't fun, but it's doable. i took mine out, and now it's back in. took me a couple of hours of cussing...

Thanks for the help guys! I ended up cutting the box out because I did not feel like cleaning up coolant all night. I did notice one thing when I was driving it last night, when i accelerate, I hear a whiste that kinds sounds like a turbo spooling. Does your do that, or do I have a vaccuum leak somewhere. The only thing that I am thinking it could be is on the inlet tube, i broke the hose clamp on the hose side, although it was very tight going on, I did not bother replacing it. Thanks again!

i believe it is a resonance that is there just from the traits of the bends in the metal and the air coming in the filter. i've noticed it at a certain RPM in every car i've had an intake on. if it's only at a certain rpm, and you can seem to control it with the throttle, that's it, if it's there sporadically, and at different RPMs, i don't know.

always good to check all hoses though, and i'd go get a new hose clamp asap, not a good idea to have a loose one, regardless of how "tight" it feels
