Doesn't sound bad. I'm thinking I should get one and then compair it to the ones FT's buddy in porting so we can see what the differences are.

Slightly Off -topic, but not really:

LNF Engine limited to 6300 rpm's. I assumed originally this was due to reliability of the powertrain OR to so like the LSJ, GM could include a stage kit that raises the rev limiter... However...

It is possible that the direct injection piston design could be limiting high rpm stability. Thoughts?

Mike, I think it was to match the cam's flow they were installing. I don't think they saw the need to port the intake side as it already outflowed what the cam was going to allow. The exhaust side I think they ported for EGT reasons, but I'm not sure.

In my experiences when max rpm is limited to by the piston design, its because of piston speed and its relation to the ring's capabilities. I would guess the redline has something to do with the turbo's capabilities, just a guess.

did anyone notice that the two build books are the same? the Engine management and the Ecotec whatever build book (not the sportsman one).

But FKin-eh, I totally want to throw a 300hp N/A motor in a boat and drive it around. that would be badass!

I would normally agree with you, but there is simply not enough data on these new direct injection engines to sort out what is going on with them. I still haven't even found a pic of the 3.6L's piston.

Shab, i do believe that GM is going to be coming out with stage kits, as one of the reps at sema that worked on the Solstice290 said to expect kits in 4-6 months (from then). So, we'll have to see what they do with the rev limited at that point before you could really tell.

Yeah, I read the same info myself. I just wish there was more info out there, because at this point, the aftermarket cannot really get much done on these DI engines.

^the welds will not fail if they are good welds... but yea. why weld it and risk it when you can get a custom crank that is prolly stronger anyways...lol.
