FE5 control arms

on my car for 3 months hard life on the track, imagine my surprise the passenger side flca trailing bushing has seperated and is NFG. So put in spherical joints...you autox'ers might check your bushings. I have not seen this failure before...

Powell Motorsports does a badass upgrade to the FE5 arms but it is expensive as hell.

Right, I'm hoping that he went another route. $800 for bushings is retarded, i'd make them custom myself for less than that.

Thanks Eco-mod, they are indeed kick ass! 200 track miles today on a set of front tires and lots left! Hey Joe, stop whining about the price do it yourself!

lets consider this; the spherical joint is 80 bucks (x2) . It requires an aluminum insert for the arm, machined to accept the spherical joint, with a machined groove for an internal snap ring. This insert then has to be TIG welded into the arm then reamed to size to be sure that distortion from welding hasnt screwed it up, (buy the arm first (x) and remove the stock trailing bushing) then machine two spacers to go on the top and bottom of the spherical joint. Now, remove the leading bushing and machine two pieces of delrin to insert.(x4) Now use a mill to machine the ends of some high tensile round steel machined to size, to insert into the delrin sleeves. Tes, Allthis times 2 pieces.

INstall.

And one more thing Italian joe1 good buddy I like your posts most of the time. You seem to be capable. Do it yourself and see how close you can get to 600 bucks of machine time and parts material and arms, then figure out what your labour is to weld it all together...maybe you have a buddy with a machine shop who will do all this for you free, but then you will have to get the material for free as well.

Good luck.

By the way i have no power hop, in the rain or dry, because i have rotated the motor, I use a stock rear mount have no vibration and my solution costs less than everyones poly motor mount set. Shabodah is going to independently test it, and then I may put it up on my web site, but i dont really care. The fact that Aaron at TTR sells stuff to you folks beats me Aaron must eat spaghetti every day ! Its so hard to put gas in my redline on the markup we make...so good luck , I still love you, but 800 bucks for control arms? Its not enough buddy...

I actually work in a machine shop, so yeah, thats why I say that. It doesn't make any sense to pay someone else to do what I could do at work.
