Turbo Discussion

Since many are considering going turbo I think it would be a good idea to get a nice little discussion going on the differences in turbos. This way people that would like to swap to a turbocharged induction, like myself, would have more information. The turbo's I think are are most discussed are the GT3076r, S256, and Hifi 60-1. If people that know about these turbo's could give some info on the differences between them that would probably be very helpful. Looking for things like differences in spool up time, cfm levels, boost choke off points etc. Like I said I don't really know much about turbos and I'm sure many others here don't as well.

Lower temps, Longer lasting engine, Easier to play with/mod, Endless limitations vs than with the m62, etc.

Lower engine temps? MMM, my Sky has same operating temp as Ion. And turbo is dealing with hot exhaust, so would think it would run HOTTER, not cooler for air induction to the engine without the proper cooler.

Longer lasting engine think would depend on how you maintain it regardless of induction..

I can see the mods issue though but with this engine not being direct injection like the LNF, you're going to have a good turbo lag.

One other I ran across.

Wouldn't it just be easier to drop in a crate LNF and ecm?

Just offering information bud based on original posters comment about not being familiar with turbos since this is a discussion thread.

The more information discussed, the better one can make a decision and choices.
