If you pull the hose from the other side of the solenoid, you don't have to plug it. If you pull the other hose (the one pulled in the pics) and plug it, you would get the same effect. The solenoid is just a pass through that is closed until you get to the control point (rpm or boost), at which it opens, lets the boosted air go through it to push against the diaphram in the solenoid, opening the bypass valve in the blower. If you pull the one in the pic, you need to cap it or you will get a vacuum leak. If you pull it on the other side of the solenoid (hose between the blower and the solenoid), it doesn't need to be cap'd because the solenoid is closed unless under boost at high rpms. Some meter'd air will come out when its commanded open, but not enough to effect the air/fuel ratio. Its the same solenoid set up used on the Grand Prix GTP's.

Both ways would work.

The line that runs from the solenoid, to the bypass container only sees vacuum, never boost.

From what I understand, he's showing us the old mod, the original one. I think he's got it backwards though. The line that comes from the solenoid to the canister on the blower, sees only vacuum. I know, I accidentaly hooked up my boost gauge to this part of the line. Clownhair can explain it much better than myself. I don't know all the particulars. I just know that the line I/we are talking about never sees boost.

I wouldn't pull any vacuum lines.

I just put a roller/lever switch under my gas pedal so that it closes at WOT. I then setup the switch to ground out the grey wire on the boost soleniod. So once I hit WOT the boost soleniod gets disabled. :-D
