ok new version of intake

ok since the slinky tube intake was not working very well and the stock tubing turn around was not working either ive decided that since it is now starting to cool down and its not as hot any more plus it starting to sprinkle i chose to just stick with the 24.99 intake mod. so far the light has stayed off for ~ 60 miles when it would turn back on after ~30, so its looking good so far. heres some pics of what i did. i had a little trouble with getting it to stay after drivng so i put some electrial tape around it and its hard as a rock and wont move and it blends in real well. when i get home tonight im gonna take and put the foam back around it instead of the way it is now. also i took that slinky tube and routed it so when im driving it will allow air to go thru the tube and directly blow to the intake hopeing that it will help cool the air a little.

Try using something to shield it from engine, tranny, and radiator heat, if possible.

lol i know it sounds like trailer trash redneck way but i was gonna try to use a butter container (ya know the big ol plastic containers like 3-5 lbs container) it would fit around it but it would prob melt and not sheild away as much heat but im trying to use what i got around the house , but i think i got some extra metal around ill try.

spooner, you see my wheel job? what ya think? i cant remember if you said anything about it before or not, memory is crap.

Buy or order some heat shielding from someplace, pretty cheap, no more than $20 for what you need. Then you can glue or rivet it to almost anything in the shape you want it. The shielding will prevent it from getting too warm. You still have to use something that's at least heat resistant, but alot of things could work at that point.

Yes, the rims look good. I'm assuming that you went with some sort of vinyl for that?

yeah i just went to the parts store and got the 2" thick striping stuff and just cut it in half and cut to fit before sticking it on. if ya try to cut it stuck on there itll ruin the rim. found that out the hard way.

if you just do this itll keep the light off but the down fall is the heat from the engine and tranny but also if ya put a metal sheet inbetween then it should not have as big of a prob.
