Angry Noisy lifters upon start up??

Got a 2004 RL w/ 12K miles on her so far. Over the last week, noticed that when I start the car in the morning, it has like a bad lifter sound. Rattles for about twenty seconds, then fades. Seems like each day its getting worse.

Anyone else have this problem??

Oil level could do it, or if you stepped away from the synthetic oil, you could have some sticky tappets. There are quite a few things that will cause this problem, so it's tough to pinpoint it without more information.

...checked the oil level. Looks good. Kinda dirty. I got a coolant leak some where because I have to keep filling the coolant level every other week, so I'll be taking the car in this Wednesday. I'll have them check it out.

Odd.

I have noisy lifters also. Except mine is not at start up. I get mostly at night cause its cooler, and when I hit boost. It sounds like you are putting to much of a load on the engine, but Im usually about 3 grand in second and third gear when i hear it. I took dad for a ride the other day and of course it didnt do it. Oil is fine and it is synthetic. It has done it for awhile, just had to comment since someone elses car rattles too!

the tech that i talked to said it could also be that its getting closer to oil change time for me at least and that it could be that the oil is just starting to thin out some so its getting noisy b/c its not the thickness it should be. i dunno thats just what i was told.
