So..., I spent the afternoon @ the GM High Performance Display. Who's interested in

I just got back from Mid-Ohio Raceway & the EMCO Gear Classic weekend & Tripple Crown Tuner Challenge and I talked to the GM guys for about 2 hours. I am getting a bite to eat & then will down load some pics and post what I found out if there is any interest. Teaser: --- don't spend any money yet on anything, or you will be behind the performance curve and have spent more money to be there..... more after I eat.

After reading posts on my other thread, I have come to the conclusion that some here are not deserving. I did not talk to the "guys" at the truck. (ender this is not directed to you) Well, I did talk to Mike, he's the rig driver that hauls the shit around. He hooked me up with the engineers that were there. Engineers to not go to shows like the small car bash, only the races. Biggest score was the head guy that does the tuning for the two cobalt teams.

Stage one is a re-cal and bigger injectors. Straight from GM engineering: our stock injectors are too small for the upgrades. This was done on purpose. A de-tune. Stage two adds the pulley and the re-cal is already for it if you went the stage one route first. More later, I just got home and we're going out to eat and cruise.

I was told that stage one will give a "significant" increase in power that you will feel immediately, no doubt. Also on the verge of release if a mod kit that will allow you to play with the fuel and spark curves and raise the RPM limit. RPM limit will not go over 7000, and possible be limited to 6700 to 6900 range. From the GMHPD engineer: "your bottom is good for 8000 RPM all day long, but the factory stock valve springs are only good to 7250 RPM, so you won't see over 7000 from GM." They have limited our engine because of oiling. In a drag race, we have no problem plenty of oil all day long and then some. The problem in in the turns. Now tell me if this sounds like the guy knows a little something about an ecotec engine. About the engine in a road race, "we found that over 6500 RPM in a counter clockwise rotation pulling X-g(I forget the G-force he quoted) for 45 seconds that the bearings get starved for oil." They would not sell our engine in a configuration that could wind up in this kind of situation. Warranty issues. His solution is a dry sump oiling system for a road course car. I got a whole bunch of answers/info that makes plenty of sense as to why our cars were restricted. I don't like it, but I understand.

No offence taken, but I didn’t just talk to the guys at the truck either. I talked to the guy that puts together all of GMs stuff for SEMA, so he couldn't tell me what it was really just that they would start to sell it first qtr of next year, and that it was awesome in test mules. My minor is in marketing, and that’s what I talked to him about the availability of the stages. I WISH I could have yapped with an enginerd but you're right I didn’t see any at the Bash.

I want more info didn't say how significant the gains were did he?? I would Imagine that the stage 1 upgrade would work for both the SS and the Redline. hmmmm wondering if we will ever see a Redline Road racecar.
