You gotta remember that there's a big difference between what GM CAN do and what GM WILL do. I think it's not unreasonable to say that GM COULD do much more than an aftermarket company like psi-fi could, simply due to access to resources that aftermarket companies just don't have.

But if history is any indication, GM probably WONT go anywhere near as far as an aftermarket company would, simply because GM to be worried about warranties and broken cars and being sued. I think GM's offerings will probably land somewhere on the side of caution & safety rather than balls-out performance.

yeah well i'd probably chose the GM kits, when/if they have them becuause they know the comptuer and would *hopefully have it flashed or whatnot.. then the mods would be as/if not more usefull.. and you can keep your warrenty... this all depending on price of course..

sorry if this makes no sense im a little drunk

I would hope that GM is trying to break the mold and catch some of that aftermarket money that they've been losing. It seems as though they have approached the LSJ differently than other powerplants and are trying to cash in on the 'tuner' crowd. I'm not sure if the bean counters would agree but if they gave us what they're capable of giving, GM could be on top again. How often does GM task their performance division with building a 4 banger?

I have a feeling (could be wrong and usually am) that the GM releases are going to be very disappointing. I keep hearing over and over approx 50hp for stage 2. I know a lot of this is speculation but this has come from atleast 2 or 3 threads by people saying they talked to gmpp guys. 50HP Stage 2?
Seems weak to me... what would be even weaker is if thats crank hp. Isnt PsiFi showing approx 25whp? 50wtrq? Have a feeling as well that stage 2 GM isnt going to be $550. just my .02 though.. If GM comes out with something sweet in 6 months at a good price... Ill just take off the psifi stuff and put it away..

Dazednconfused is right IMO sense I been mainly concentrating on Suspension here I think I can afford to wait to see what GM is up to. If not then what have I lost, more money saved for other mods.

if gm does in fact release stage upgrades for the cobalt, which will probably require ecu mods and programming etc,
it makes me wonder how is that going to work on a RL?
parts-wise probably no problem,
but are the ecu's and programming the same on both cars??

probably not.

wouldn't gm have to also release separate stage upgrades that are designed for the RL ecu?

IMO the Stage 1 software will very likely be even BETTER for the PSI-FI kit as it will likely have "relaxed" DTC fail parameters, revised maps for things like timing, boost control or even minimalizing emissions functions and other performance robbing controls. This should allow for even more potential for kits like the PSI-FI to push the envelope even further IMO.

As far as delays in getting these rolled out... you must keep in mind that while a new platform/engine combination is IN it's production year, revisions to the calibrations all have to be filed with the EPA to confirm that any changes do not alter it's previously approved regulaltory numbers. After a specified time period, changes to the calibration in pursuit of improved customer satisfaction have more "room" to be to the detriment of emsissions. Plain and simple the priorities of the factory calibrations are:
1. Emissions (or they cant sell the car)
2. Economy
3. Drivability and "general" Customer Satisfaction
4. Performance (see 3)
* Funny how many people here would flip this list over ! LOL me too!!
