2.2 Supercharged Build

This is not a Redline but thought you guys might be interested in my 2.2 Ecotec build. Car has been supercharged for a few years now and finally decided to take that next step.

I've got about 750 miles on the motor since the rebuild and it now has the following mods:

Wiseco pistons (stock bore & compression)
Eagle rods w/ ARP rod bolts
OEM headgasket
Patriot stage 2 cylinder head (ported, dual valve springs, +1mm valves)
Comp blower cams
Viton valve seals
M62 supercharger w/ 2.7" pulley
60# injectors
Cobra Heat Exchanger
ZZP Dual Pass Endplate
Flow-through reservoir
E47 fuel
Trifecta tune
Badmab header
2.5" ZZP catless downpipe
2.25" exhaust
3" intake

Anyway, on to the pics:

Day 1/2 (Day before the official build day)





Day 1

Got the head off, oil pan and pulled the pistons and rods







Day 2

No pics, got 3 pistons/rods in and broke a compression ring on the 4th piston so there were a couple days delay while I got new rings from Wiseco

Day 3

Got the replacement piston ring and was able to finally install the 4th piston





Then 1LowLS showed up and gave me a shit-ton of help. It was raining the entire time we were working on this thing.



1LowLS removing the valve springs so we could replace the valve seals





Oil pan and block were cleaned so we could apply sealant and re-install them





Later we re-installed the head



Then goes the intake manifold and the coolant hoses, also Comp blower cams installed and motor timed



I bought an intake manifold > supercharger spacer from Overkill Engineering Motorsports and the POS wasn't even cut big enough for the supercharger inlet. Still pissed about that (I realize its flipped the wrong way but doesn't matter)



Moving on without that, installed the blower, 2.7" pulley and intake



Got everything bolted up, oil and coolant in. And she runs!



Got my Trifecta cable in...flashed my E47 tune. Unfortunately I can't get the the stupid datalogger to work to save my life...so annoying. So I'm stuck on a base tune for now.





And thats it for now. Still need a clutch bad, my OEM one hates this 2.7" pulley with a passion

Seems like it would be much harder to do this rebuild in frame, obviously you left the main bearings alone?

did you check the cyl bores for roundness and cyl wall clearance before dropping the new slugs in?

looks nice. how's the powerband on those blower cams? are they the ones listed as blower specific on their website or something special?

if anyone wants a good and fair priced rod and piston combo you can use 2.2 rods and pistons in the lsj

Awesome man. Open that catback up a little though you losing power with a 2.25 at this point
