AEM Intake Installed

I bought a blue one that matched the color of the car. Install wasn't hard, but it was a pain. I cant believe they ran a radiator hose over our air filter, that and the oil filter under the S/C make routine maintenance a chore. I left the bottom of the filter box on and just took all the piping off that leads to it. I figure this will protect the filter while still providing plenty of air through the hole in the side.

Impressions:
1. Engine behaves like stock, no rough idling or what not
2. Car runs strong, but whether theres an actuall perfomance gain would be totally subjective
3. You can hear the S/C now, but its not overly loud. I'm sure it would be much louder if I ran it with out the bottom of the filter box, but I'm more comfortable with it.
4. Looks great, the powder coat on the intake tube is nice and shiny and a very close match to the color of the car

Why did you remove the piping from the box to the fender well? That is where the water intrusion protection is and it does not affect the operation of the intake. I had mine done by AEM and it is all in one piece.

I figure all that piping with the wierd plastic wraping and cardboard accordian section is the reason our intake is soo quiet and my g/f wanted to hear her s/c. Also of note, when I took that piping out, there were noticable amounts of dirty water spots going into it, so water is still going in with the stock setup. In my 10 years of driving, I've never gone through water more than and inch or so deep, so having the inlet up high isn't a big priority for me.

I like the quiet intake. Mine does not really start to sing untill about 4K and by then it is just tooooo damn late.. By the time they hear the singing it's the fat lady....

One more question, in your 10 years of driving how many have been forced induction?
