You should be fine on the strip, what do they require a helmet for? Anything sub-14 seconds or anything sub-13 seconds? I forget.

In terms of on the track, you need a Helmet that conforms to the newest Snell rating, if you're getting a new one. It depends somewhat on your local race sanctioning body. My club requires a Snell SA95 or M2000 rating, or above.

Personally, I have an Oneil Crossflow motorcycle helmet, but it dosen't have all the stickers on it that they like to see. It says 'Snell Approved' but dosen't give the specific ratings. Its a nice helmet though, closed face, the visor flips up and stays up. It has a few sets of vents in it that you can open and close, including on the directs air up and behind the visor to prevent fogging. It has removable ear padding inside, so you can install a radio in the ear piece. It was $199, and the Pep Boys moron charged me $69 for it!

If you go to cycle gear, you can try on all different types to see what fits you. Shoei has more of a round opening and shape, where Arei (sp?) has a more oval shape. The shoei did not fit me, I went with a Arei Quantum (I had a bike so I used them for both), Icon has some neat color shemes and patterns to it. Some helmets have a latch on the bottom of the chin where you can lift the entire front piece up, helps if you are gonig to sit for a while, gets alot more air flow. Cycle Gear has some of the most competitive prices and like I said, they have practically everything to squeze your mellon into. It is all about comfort you know??
