Question Sticky Post for CEL Codes ?

Hey guys, my g/fs bone stock '04 RL had the CEL come on yesterday. I told her to see Autozone for the code # and to pass it along to me.
Well, she gets there and has the guy discover that it's a "misfire" code.....however, she doesn't get the # like I specifically told her to do

However, I know that it's a "misfire" (thats all I know) and was going to attempt finding it in the CEL code sticky that used to be posted in one of these RL forums.....can anyone shed some light on either this "misfire" or where to match it to the actual code #?
Meanwhile, I plan to have her go back and get it rediagnosed for the NUMBER So that we can plan what to do about it. edit: Oh yeah, he cleared the CEL light..so guess we gotta wait around for it now

Thanks a lot!

It is a stick my friend!

The codes that the auto stores has, and the actual LSJ code could be different. It's happened more than once, like the P1182 comes up as something totally different if you don't use the LSJ specific DTCs. Anyway, here ya go.

Did you do anything to the car? I had the boost reference line to the intake manifold come loose after removing my old boost gauge, and it threw a misfire code, then a lean code, lean code again, misfire, etc...

Misfires are the P0300 series of DTCs
There can be just a P0300 (Random misfire) or for instance P0301 would mean a misfire was detected on cylinder 1 (302=cyl2 etc)

When a misfire is present the MIL may FLASH as well

My advice would be to take it in to your dealer. There is a myriad of things that could cause a misfire, from low or bad fuel, to injector or ignition secondary issues.

There is one thing to watch for on the RLs that COULD cause this- there's a spot behind the engine where the injector electrical harness, could contact a metal bracket that is supporting one of the A/C lines. If this contact rubs through the conduit and insulation it COULD cause false triggering of the injectors, resulting in the P030x DTCs. There isnt a TSB for this or anything, just something that's been reported as being seen- kinda like the sasquatch
