met an interesting guy yesterday

I had a gentleman approach me yesterday and began talking to me about my car. As were speaking he goes, " yeah I remember back in 2000 we had this engine on an engine dyno and they were making 260 hp." I was like ummm what the hell man? You seen this engine in 2000? I asked him if he worked for gm and he just said, " uhhh yeah I do some things for them," and pointed to his car which had some sort of gm pass hanging from the rear view mirror. He asks me if anyone is tuning these cars yet. I told him no that alot of people are having trouble figuring out the ecu. He smiled and told me he can tune them. I was very intrigued and he told me how to get ahold of him. The guy also mentioned the staged kits that we have heard about already and did mention that the stage 1 ecu flash would give some leniency to mods. He also said he has driven the turbo Ion Redline that will be coming out and said," there alot faster and alot more fun." He proceeds to tell me that the blower is basically maxxed stock (we knew that) and that the laminova intercooler is phenomnial but there was only so much it can do (we also knew that) There was more of the convo but 90% of it I didn't understand because this wa like talking to WOP but in person and me being completely confused most of the time.

Turbo redline? havent heard anything on that yet, that may have to be my next car.

Sounds awesome... too bad the GM people that had it pusin 260 5 years ago can't hurry up with the damn stages. And a turbo Ion Redline sounds like fun... any word on when their actually coming out with that??

yeah he said on the changeover that it would definately be happening. Of course I never seen any hard credentials but he was spewing info like a technical manual.

I heard the same about the turbo. They are using the turbo from the WRX is what I hear.

well from what i understand is that the new sky redline will be using a turbo setup, so i would image that the new ion redline would get the same engine.

I would bet on it being the same turbo engine thats coming out in the sky/soltice. That one is rumored to put out around 250-260hp which would definatly make for a more fun IRL

i just pooped myself... i want 260 all under warrenty... and then on top of that add aftermarket mods and bump this car into the 300 whp range... that owuld make me happy

I mentioned it to him, he said he was on a bunch of other saturn boards that I had never really heard of.
