gm's stang 2 kit comes with smaller belt and its pully is only a 3.10 it is very possible that the oem belt coluld slip. the one that came in the kit bearly fits with tensioner fully released just some insight.

for one, the size is roughly 3", and when you say 'OEM' I am assuming you mean the larger belt, not the stage 2 belt. I think your looking for trouble not replacing the belt when you go stage 2. There is no reason not to, it's easy to change

thats what i'm saying if you have stage 2 from gm it has the smaller belt that would run a 2.8 pully that is what i have on it now and there is still room for smaller pully without having slippage and does anyone know someone that can weld my s/c inhave a spare on with a crack in the housing

question on 2.8 pulley

I have an 05 redline with comp. package. I want to instal the 2.8 pulley my wife bought me for x-mas. I have the K-N typhoon intake and a 3" exhaust. Should I do the boost bypass mod? Two, does this stock pulley have a tensioner screw in the center of it or is it just pessed on? Three, do I need anything else for this mod to work correctly?

2.8"? You're gonne need injectors and a tune. With a tune, you will not have to worry about the boost bypass

Yea I would have a custom tune with a 2.8 and of course injectors. I have the GMPP Stage 2 upgrade on the car with a 3.0 and it is fine but when i put the 2.8 had to do the boost bypass mod. With the stge2 tune stge2 injectors and the 2.8 with the bypass mod in cold weather in chicago in tends to start back firing and popping exhaust near redline. thinkin since its cold out its putin more boost out and really over loading the stge2 injectors. so went back to stge 2(3.0) inch pulley. its the correct one and the engine runs healthier.
