What!?!

[quote=cgbtl2004]i went to saturn for a price on stage 2 they said 900/QUOTE]

I picked up a factory stage 2 kit for $500 in the sealed box from the dealer. The dealer in your area is a ripoff.

I seriously want to just throw this out there. I HIGHLY suggest you do supporting mods before you even think of going smaller then a 3.1" pulley.

Our static compression ratio is already very HIGH for a F/I car. I imagine gm did this so we couldn't just slap on the smallest pulleys we could find.

The FIRST mods on our cars should be...

1. Header
2. 3" Downpipe with HFC or O/R
3. 3" Catback
4. Cone Filter

AFTER those mods are done THEN you should move to tuning, 60lb injectors and smaller then a 3.1" Pulley. I know you guys want a quick fix and to just cram more boost into the engine but it's only a matter of time. Ask yourself this question.. Do you want to blow your engine or have safe reliable power day in and day out?

EDIT - I pulled these numbers from a boost compression algorithm online just to show everyone.

You are running 12.0 PSI of boost at an altitude of 1200 feet. Your motor's static compression is 9.5 :1. At this boost level and altitude your effective compression ratio is 17.02 :1, and without altitude correction your compression ratio would be 17.26 :1.

You are running 16.0 PSI of boost at an altitude of 1200 feet. Your motor's static compression is 9.5 :1. At this boost level and altitude your effective compression ratio is 19.60 :1, and without altitude correction your compression ratio would be 19.84 :1.

You are running 18.0 PSI of boost at an altitude of 1200 feet. Your motor's static compression is 9.5 :1. At this boost level and altitude your effective compression ratio is 20.89 :1, and without altitude correction your compression ratio would be 21.13 :1

Now imagine if GM was smart and built our engine with an 8:1 static compression ratio like they should have.

You are running 12.0 PSI of boost at an altitude of 1200 feet. Your motor's static compression is 8 :1. At this boost level and altitude your effective compression ratio is 14.29 :1, and without altitude correction your compression ratio would be 14.53 :1.

You are running 16.0 PSI of boost at an altitude of 1200 feet. Your motor's static compression is 8 :1. At this boost level and altitude your effective compression ratio is 16.47 :1, and without altitude correction your compression ratio would be 16.71 :1.

You are running 18.0 PSI of boost at an altitude of 1200 feet. Your motor's static compression is 8 :1. At this boost level and altitude your effective compression ratio is 17.56 :1, and without altitude correction your compression ratio would be 17.80 :1.

In other words. 8:1 engine with 18psi > 9.5:1 Engine at 12Psi

Agree with everything but the 3" catback. You loose low end tq and the noise is unbearable for most people. The good thing about buying a 3” exhaust is that you can find one cheap because there are probably 10 for sale right now between RLF and Slowbaltss.net.

Try not to make redundant posts.
Boost Bypass Mod?

There's an existing thread on this issue. I will link this in the thread you created.
