300whp, 93 octane, M62, possible?

So, after the engine died in my redline, I did some thinking, and stumbled onto a sweet deal on an engine with a broken alternator mount...

After fabricating a bracket that'll mount my alternator, I looked under the valve cover to find that the PO had loosened the nuts on the ARP head studs, so I decided to remove the head to ensure the gasket is good(by replacing it), and since the head is off, I decided to gasket match the ports...

Which brings me to my question...

The engine already has ZZP valve springs, and it'll have ARP studs, and I'm a nozzle, check valve, Hobbs switch, and tube from adding water/meth injection... I also have a ported M62, LS4 and ZZP 3" intake...Is 300 whp possible on gasoline(no ethanol within 75 miles of me) with a 7500 RPM limit, a gasket matched head and I/M, and water/meth? Would I need smaller than a 2.8?

2.8 pulley, dual pass, option B, CAI, full exhaust, fe5 suspension swap, and other mods...

no need to list my wife's car...

Best possible is probably 260-270whp

2004 Ion Redline: K&N CAI, ZZP 3" Full Exhaust with Long Tube Header, 60lbs Siemens Deka Injectors, PLX Wideband O2, 2.7" Pulley, 2004 Powell Front and ZZP Rear Mount, R1 Drilled Slotted Rotors, Dual Pass Endplate, ZZP Heat Exchanger, Option B.

Self HPTuned on 93 Octane. 11.7 AFR, 18-21 deg timing.
Self HPTuned on E47 blend. 0.80λ, 25-27 deg timing.

I've got a BadMab header, 3" ZZP catted DP, and 2.5"MagnaFlow CBE... I was going to get a long tube header when the engine was swapped, but that got pushed forward, and money is tight at the moment... So, from what I understand, even with tuning(I'm currently on a ZZP 1.0PCM), I'll never see 300whp without adding nitrous...

just have to ask... why are you trying to get to 300hp. if you want more power go with the tvs 1320 S/C . i know its a lot of $$$ but it will get you were you want to be. Other people have pieced together a turbo kit for decent prices and made good power. Just depends on what you want to do with it...

I was mostly wondering if 300 were possible on what's to become my new setup... I've seen GMRedline go way over 300whp on stock long block and M62 with ethanol, I thought that maybe with improvements to my long block(the gasket matched head and IM, and valve springs) and adding water/methanol injection, I could get close... If I can't hit 300, I'll be okay, as I plan on rebuilding the engine that I'm removing from the car to make much more than that, (plans to ditch the M62 in favor of an HX35 turbo)

Without corn or nos you won't make it but ya can get close I'd guess 270ish Max.

Eh, 270-ish will still be a quick car... Would it matter where I injected the water/methanol, given the choice of before or after the blower?

Yeah 270whp is a fast car. Custom tune will make it feel better too. I'm still slowly working on my tune (Trying to get no knock year round and optimizing timing takes time) and it definitely feels good to drive. If I ever save up I am going TVS. People say not to run TVS without meth or E because it is a waste but the improved thernal efficiency is still good. I've seen 93 octane and Option B intercooled TVS hit 300whp. The TVS also raises the power band so if you have valve train work you can run her up to like 7500rpm and make more torque above 6400. That will definitely make 1-2-3 pulls fun.

I actually will be helping a TVS cobalt tune his on 93. Definitely excited to see how it pulls through the higher revs

I think methanol could get you a little higher too, but I kinda like the idea of just having Gas or E85 and just filling up the tank. Meth injection seems less fit for a DD. Plenty of people run it no doubt, just my $0.02 though. If it's your secondary vehicle, then what the hell, do it. Haha
