How do you mean it advances timing too fast?

Spooner, i'm one of the only one's with a interceptor and remember I dyno tuned. JMC007 can back up this information.

The car see's boost too fast with the 2.8" pulley and the car's timing is too advanced for how much boost we are seeing causing tons of knock.

the MAF-T scales down the frequency, tricks the PCM into thinking it it's under less load and it advances the timing when we need it to retard the timing because we see so much boost A LOT faster than the stock pulley was giving.

Am I making sense?

I believe the people with the intense kit dont have gauges or a scanner and are freely beating on the car while it's not running right.

I'm not saying the intense kit doesnt make power, i'm sure it does. But does it make SAFE power, from my findings.. NO!

You're saying that the car advances timing when not under load, I get it... like when you let off the gas and your timing jumps up to like 40 degrees while coasting? So, the car thinks you're not under load, gives you a ton of timing, which in this case, you don't want, and then the trouble starts... I get it... I see!

I just naturally assumed that the other guys would have been checking on these items as well!

Exactly! Jmc007 is the one who discovered it and i just backed up his theory because our setups are so similiar.

http://www.maftpro.com/

Will the GM MAF-T Pro work? Because that would solve my issues with ignition control..

I thought TC said the SMT6 can retard timing... if you already have one...it sounds like the way to go... TC knows how to tune one...

The way I wired the SMT6 it does not have direct control over timing only fuel. For me this is not an issue. I prefer to run boost vs. timing for more HP.
When you guys talk about peak timing, you are refering to the smallest timing advance at WOT ?

Because the more it's loaded, the less the timing (the smaller the timing advance) ?

I'm thinking more and more about the SMT6 going on my car, but I just dont know how to retune the thing for my 42.5lbs injectors, race header, intake, exhaust.

I wouldn't know where to start, i'm more interested in a simple device like the MAF-T Plus where it's just simple knobs.

Until I can learn more about tuning, I would have to hire someone to tune my SMT6 on a dyno.

I know someone who knows the best import tuner in the Northern California and he can hook it up for $165/hr dyno tuning.

EDIT: I don't know if I want to hire anyone to tune my car because all I can really afford *not really* is about 2-3 hours of tuning time. I'm sure I will need more then that with this car.

With the MAF-T Plus, I can do it myself on a dyno and can squeeze in 4-6 hours depending on which kind of dyno I want to hop on.
