Stage Kits...what if I ONLY need the reflash?

I have, sitting in my garage, a 2.8 pulley, adjustable tensioner bracket and 42.5 lb/hr injectors.

According to everything I've read, that's pretty much everything for an equivalent to Stg 2, minus the reflash (a little smaller pulley, but I'm sure that GM is gonna keep the A/F on the rich side).

Also, I read in another thread that the rumor is that the reflash will make the car more "accepting" of other mods so that would be a big plus as well.

So do you think that GM will do ONLY a reflash for us, or do you think they will be stingy and only do it if you buy THEIR entire kit? Also, I wonder what they would charge you for it? What's the minimum labor charge? I'm assuming it is an hour.

I'm just asking you guys predictions on this topic because I know that nothing about these kits is "set in stone" knowledge at this point it seems.

I read somewhere that the S1 and S2 kits are going to have the same PCM flash. Not that that answers your question

Yup, stage 1 is the only flash, if u upgrade to stage 2, you don't need a new flash, and if you buy the stage 1&2 it has the same flash as stage 1. From what I've heard.

What someone else posted once though, was that the flash will likely only be available as a part of the whole Stg 1 kit. It goes like this. The dealer orders the kit for you, and one of the 'parts' of the kit is the specific reflash for YOUR car. They have to supply the VIN number and such to verify that it is a Redline, and then be able to keep track of which cars they've reflashed in the past (this so if you need your PCM replaced at some point, they have on record that you paid for the Stg 1 flash, and they don't put the old flash back on instead).

If I know large companies who like to make money the way I think I know them, you will only be able to get the flash with the whole kit. So just get Stg 1, and buy the other stuff on your own.

Please note, there has never been mention of a 'reflash' for sale, only Stage Kits. If they flash your car, and your injectors arent the exact same, the car might run like total ass...

Thats what im doing. Im just gonna use GM for there Reflash and hopefully by this opening up the computer to make use of the new injectors and pulley. Maybe it can take an even smaller pulley. Maybe a 2.6??? Thats what im trying.

Well, if that's true, I think it's complete and utter bullshit.

Stage 1 is only new injectors and a reflash and is going to cost around 430 bucks? (estimated from 'rumors' I've read) What a fucking jip.

so is the only difference between the stage 1 and stage 2 is that the stage 2 has the smaller pully?

Smaller pulley and smaller belt. The prices they are charging are way to high for what you get IMHO. You could buy the parts elsewhere cheaper and just have GM reflash for you and I think they know that all too well so, it wouldn't suprise me if they won't just do reflashes for us.

Oh well.
