RL Trans into a QC2

Guys I have a bit of a quandry. I'm a pretty good distance into turbocharging a 2.2L QC2 and I'm afraid that the stock QC Transmission will break on me. Trying to cover all my bases and build a truly solid car I'm wanting to put a RL Trans into the QC and harness some of that torque that ECOtec's enjoy without snapping something inside.

Can anyone help me with a bit of research on this topic. I've learned that the F35-MU3 is a bit different than the F23-M86 with the gearshift mechanism, but just how different is it to prevent me from putting it in my QC. I'm under the assumption that the mounts are the same (as the body style is the same and GM would have to be off their rockers not to keep it the same) and hopefully where the clutch lines connect are close to the same. Any help here guys.

A Pic of the clutch line connections, engine/trans mounts and gearshift selector cable connections, would be absolutely great so that I can compare to mine.

Thanks in advance fellas.

I was just thinking. Would I need to filtch a RL Slave Cylinder and all the lines for it? Would that make my life easier? If so I may have just solved my own problem. I know that the RL Slave is different and the lines running to the 'mission are different so getting these may fix my quandry.

Our clutch and brakes are attached at the master/slave cyl's, is that how the QC's are as well? You're right to be concerned with the tranny, as even the RL tranny isn't bulletproof. The axles are most likelt the weakest link, aside from the stock clutch. So you should be ok with it, if you start smoking clutches you know that you're pushing the limits of the axles though. Please god get the comp package tranny (with the LSD) or the equivalent Cobalt tranny.

What kinda power are you looking at right now? Pics?

I don't really know of any string of serious tranny issues. Clown blew his LSD with the 2.8, exhuast, drag slicks, and 100 runs or so. One or two people had some axle issues. Some people complain about the clutch alot... but then stop... and then start again. Have you dealt with alot of them Schizzo? I just know from being on here. I think there has been a number of people with tranny complaints, but mainly involving the noise it makes.

There is also a Saab 6-speed that will bolt right up, and should be a little stronger then the RL or Ion units.

The 6 speed would be a drag strip whore. I would cut off my left nut for it. Look at these ratios.

Quote:
With the six speed trans kit and 7000 rpm redline...
1st 53mph
2nd 72mph
3rd 95mph
4th 113mph
5th 129mph
6th 140mph
(ignore the 7k redline part, just shave a few mph of each of these numbers)
Think about it, not as much slipping through first (it is a little taller, sort of a 1.5 gear now), second gear is exactly the same, third is shortned to keep the same torque from second and forth fits right where our third is. 6th gear is shorter then our 4th... That is nutz

Say bye bye to gas milage though, but I would care not.

Well as of this moment I don't have the parts installed. I only have them in the boxes and a mental image basically. My goal is 325hp to the wheels and unfortunately I can't get my paws on a Comp tranny w/out dropping a pretty penny.

I WOULD try to throw an LSD in the RL Trans if I knew more about trannys, so unless divine inspiration strikes me soon...no LSD install to be done. If someone knows how to do it and can give me a walk-thru maybe I might try it.

On the QC, I'm pretty sure the brakes and clutch are run thru the master and slave, biggest thing I'm worried about currently are the lines running between the two and down to the trans and brakes. I really don't want to get the tranny into the car and be like WTF mates. How the fuck do I hook this shit up? LOL. So, unless another remedy presents itself I'm going to try and snag up the Slave and all the lines.

I just got a wild fucking hair up my ass... Someone informed me that there is a possibility of the half shafts not fitting in the 4 lug QC Hubs. Can anyone confirm how many teeth are on the RL and QC shaft.

Also, was thinking it might be possible to swap the outboard CV joints to the QC spline to fit the 4 Lug hubs and keep the RL Half-shafts into the Trans. Kinda like this representation:

=QC spline - (CV)- [RL Shaft] - RL Input=

Anyone know if this may be possible. If so I might try it. Who knows...might just get some custom shafts made that have the RL Input and the QC Output
