Boost Bypass

Hey guys, decided to try out the bypass mod for fun this weekend. I noticed it doesn't cut boost around 6200 rpms so that made me VERY happy. But my question is this, has anyone been running this mod constantly or just for track runs?? If you have been running the bypass mod, how long and any side effects?? Thanks, Soup

From what I remember the one side effect is it significantly hurts your gas mileage?

Yes, it should. As long as you are not clampling the MAP sensor with a resistor or a piggyback. Just plugging that vacuum line doesn't affect the boost gauge.

Talking

as far as gas mileage effects - wouldn't you only see that drop if you're constantly using boost? the bypass mod is only making it so you have more boost after the factory cutoff/safety point.

if you're driving it in boost around town, you're mileage is gonna go down regardless of whether or not the bypass mod is done or not. If you're not in the bypass range, then you shouldn't see any other effects either, since you're not in the range where the mod's effect comes into play.

dunno if that makes sense in words, but it's crystal clear in my head

Unless you have a smaller pulley I don't believe it will do anything.

Right - a smaller pulley brings on the boost earlier, correct? That would make sense then...
