Well, I did it.

I did the 'old Barry's Airbox Upgrade. I hope I did it right though. Things I'm wondering about....

1. I didnt remove the bottom "box" just the cover

2. I put the MAF on the front instead of the back like you guys did

Will any of these cause any probs for me or what?

You have to remove the bottom box, that's the whole point. Do you still have the filter sitting in the box???

What do you mean that you but the MAF on the front? Before the air filter?!?!? If it is, don't drive the car!!!! It needs the filtered air, and needs to be in the contained air stream to do anything!

nice i thought about putting in on the front rite after i drilled the hole in the back and i also did not take out the air box, spooner you dont have to if u use the autozone filter it sticks out of the box and still get a lot more air. Good job man hope u like the results

how would it go before the filter?

either way, you don't need to remove the box for barry's mod, but it'd be a good idea to get rid of the snorkel tube in the fender so the box draws colder air

What I meant by putting the MAF in front was I put it where you could see it instead of below the vacuum tube like barry did.

I still havn't figured out how to get the bottom box off without destroying it. I took the bolt off inside the wheel well and the other on the top of the tranny in the back but it still won't move. oh, can I just rip the snorkle tube out or does the whole box have to come with it?

Thinking before speaking is at times difficult for me! I gotta hook up some electrodes for some self-shock therapy. You really don't need to remove the stock airbox? Dosen't make that much of difference huh?

actually it's probobly better with it there, it acts as a shield from the tranny

and the snorkel tube is easy to get off, you jack up the car from the drivers side, remove the wheel well lining and some other plastic, and you can get in there to remove it.

also, there's 3 bolts holding in the airbox, but to remove it you have to move a bunch of stuff out of the way (computer, ABS module, radiator hose, ground/power wires, etc.) should've done a DIY for it when i was in there

thanks for the info Vita. It started raining on me right after I got the MAF reloacated so I had to drive about 10 min in the rain with NO filter (shutters). The check engine light came on about halfway home but I disconnected the battery for about an hour and a half and the problem went away and boy, does she scream now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it feels like the power is comming around 3k now instead of 3.5k or even 4k. anybody else notice anything like this or was I just not paying attention before?
