Getting more boost

I've heard around the forum that eaton will be coming out with a supercharger kit later on in the year, but what is this "kit" for exactly? Is is it some sort of performance rebuild kit for our superchargers so that they can push more boost? Or is it a better supercharger to replace our current one? What is it

I know the guys at psi fi are working to get 20 psi out of our supercharger, but how long will the supercharger last at such high rpms.

Also, has anyone looked into replacing our supercharger with a more capable and effecient screw type? A guy at a car meet told me that there are direct fit replacements for eaton superchargers, but i haven't heard of any.

The only draw back to screw type is NHRA has outlawed them, so no track time, wich sucks. With the design of the housing on our versoin of the M62, I would be surprized if there was a direct replacement for it. The positive part of this is that our cars are fly by wire so you could concievably put the throttle boddy anywhere you wanted (with in reason) and just plug the thing in, no cables to try to fit.

Just a quick question. What are the chances that the M62 SC can be replaced with a M90 SC as far as bolt on goes? Also would that give our four bangers too much air? Thanks.

no such thing as too much air you just have to add enough fuel to keep up. The M90 is bigger in every direction so a direct bolt on is a Big no no. As for a kit in the future Im sure itll happen.

Use of Screw-type supercharger is restricted to TAD and TAFC only. NHRA general regulation's show this. I don't have the book infront of me so I can't give the specific regulation number but screw-type superchargers are prohibited in all classes except for Top Alcohol class cars, and there:

screw-type superchargers must meet SFI Spec 34.1 and be re inspected by the manufacturer annually. Manifold burst panel meeting SFI Spec 23.1 (in addition to panel in supercharger) plus restraint system meeting SFI Spec 14.21 mandatory.Under no circumstances may a screw supercharger overdrive exceed the manufacturers/SFI testing maximums

I guess its a good thing no one will be running in any NHRA class


BTW, you can pretty much 'run what ya brung' at any track during their test and tune sessions, as long as its safe, and meets all safety requirement (ie seat belts, helmet, driveshaft loop, cage etc.)

There is a thing as "too much air"........Too much air will raise compression ratio beyond what the head bolts or gaskets are built to handle, and WHAM!! there goes a head, piston through the bottom, or a gasket........Have to be careful what you boost at....
