05-06 pcm in a 04 RL?

Will a 05-06 PCM fit into a 2004 RL?

If I picked up a used 05 pcm will it work in a 2004 RL?

I know physically it will fit, but will it trip out?

So would it be possible to program an 04 PCM with an 05 or 06 PCM program? When I get to work today I am going to ask one of the techs and see what they have to say.

i would suggest not getting a used one... you have to re-program the PCM when you replace them.. to give them the right vin and cars info.. getting a used one might screw you over during an inspection

I reprogramed my 04 redline a couple of months ago and checked the program calibration ID# between an 04 and an 05. They were the same ID#. So anytime GM has a updated program they put them in all year redlines. All you have to do is get a dealer to reflash your PCM, since they have the stuff to do it.

No they wouldn't. I asked them them to upgrade mine to 05 programming and they looked at me like I was crazy.

Well they probably did look at you crazy. Most service writers and techs don't really pay much attention to program id#, so what your were asking seemed off the wall to them. All you need to due is get most updated programming for a 04. Programs are updated all the time for various reasons and put into older model years since they may see the same problem. All I know is what I've seen.

Dude, that is one of the funniest things I've ever heard on this forum. I almost pissed my pants. But I wasnt thinking about his avatar. I imagined a RL (the car) going to a service writer and saying "upgrade my ECU". Was laughing my balls off
