Tuning with the SMT-6?

Ok since I have the RIU kit with the SMT-6 and already own a laptop. I am going to venture into tuning the car myself based off the maps already in the car.

I am going to see if I can add more fuel past 4500 rpms. I won't touch any timing or anything. But you can record in live mode and I know it monitors A/F but would it only be as accurate as a narrow band or better because it's wired right into the PCM?

Anywho does anyone have any insight on how to tune with it. I downloaded the program and read the manual. I understand most of it but not all. From what I can get is you change the analog signal to richen/lean the injectors out. Im guessing the same thing the MAF-T does only this way is more accurate?

i never messed with my own tuning, its neat but i stick to the pros for help.

even my motor head neighbor with his crazy TA.

hp tuners will be out for us soon that will be super user friendly with a ready made program for your laptop. if you can wait you may have new and better options.

The program is actual pretty user friendly. And it alters the analog signal. I will get the basic Idea of how it works when i get the RIU program up on the screen.

Not even a little. Just being serious. It's one thing to play with plug gaps and even pullies. Getting in and messing with fuel maps is a little different. As long as you can scan for knock, boost, and a legitimate A/F ratio, you're fine. Just avoid, or shutdown at the first sign of knock, or if the A/F ratio starts to run lean, fast.

Well all I was going to do was DL the RIU tune that is in the SMT-6 already and see where the fuel setting is. If they already set the injectors to be at 100% duty cycle past 4500rpm then I am screwed and just have to turn down the boost. But say they have the at 95% duty cycle i will just bump it up 1 or 2 more incraments.

With all 0's in the 8x16 map that is the stock setting. You can go -20 to +20 which jumps up the fuel delivery or takes some away. You can set it at different throttle % and RPM's. The only setting I am going to mess with is WOT settings. I want to add more fuel in as long as the injectors can handle it.
