Power Steering Problem

Tonight when I got off work my car felt like it had no power steering. It was hard to turn the wheel either way. By about half way home it was working just like normal. I don't really want to take a trip to the dealership since it is working just fine now and I'm sure (like the many other times I've had it in) they will say they can't find anything wrong with it.

Anybody have any ideas on what would cause the power steering to stop working for a short period of time and then function completly normal?

Thanks

Well we have new electric power steering (new to me anyways) so i don't know much about it but a suggestion might be to check your connections to it and ur alternator. other than that just take it to saturn and hope for the best.

I'm sure you checked the fluid right? My steering felt a little stiff the other day too, and I was meaning to check the ps fluid, this just reminded me.

We don't have a hydraulic system it is an electric motor.

So did you have "PWR STR" come up in the Info Center while the steering was acting up?? If so there should be a DTC in the EPS module that could help to determine what might have gone wrong.

CBs right the most common issue is a BLOWN 60A EPS fuse in the UnderHood Fuse Block that is usually the direct result of someone boosting the fuseblock thinking it's the battery and placing the + and - cable clamps on both B+ posts on the UHFB.

No nothing came across the Info Center and I've never jump started the car since I've had it.

I have an appointment at 10, hopefully it will be acting up this morning so there will be something to diagnose.
