Broken Shifter Cable...WTF

Ok so I took my car to the dealer. They said that the B&M caused the shifter cable to be pulled thru the mounting bracket and broke the cable. How can this happen? If so how can the cables be aligned to prevent this from happening? They want 260 parts and labor to fix it. I know when I got under it at the track the lead end out of the bracket was broke into 2 pieces near the tip and the rubber boot was not at the mount...any ideas?

Thanks,

Dan

Should I just get a stock shifter and cables and go back to stock...I dont want to be breaking this a lot.

I think you are shifting the car to hard. You don't need a lot of force to get it into the gears.

If you're ever pushing the shifter hard enough to break a cable, you're shifting way too hard. You need to shift like it's an egg. The harder you shift this car, the harder it is to shift.

The other possibility, is that you mis-adjusted the B&M when you were installing it.

Sounds like described above, hard shifting an dusing the shifter to stop itself.

You can go fast, but that doesn't mean hard. Just gotta learn to get it to the gear and stop, without going hard against itself.

A common misconception is doing everything jerky & suddenly, i.e. shifting, turning, braking is the equivalent of going fast. For example, my good buddy Vince thinks that every time he suddenly upsets the car's traction it makes him look like a race car driver. It's the exact opposite - pretend like your car is made entirely out of porcealin (holy shit, spelling?!), and you'll be surprised.

It's like I learned from years of shooting.

Smooth=Fast

I ten to do things based on DVC

Diligentia Vis Celeritas
Accuracy Power Speed
All three working together is a beautiful thing. But know that Speed will come when the others are done.

I sound like some Zen lord, or Brian Enos...
