Car wouldn't start

I know I have read about other having this problem where out of no where, the car wont start. It doesn't crank or anything. They have it towed to the dealership, and it starts right up for them.

Well I knew I had way too many trouble free months with mine. It wouldn't start last night when I was leaving my girlfriend's apartment. Luckily being in Pittsburgh, you are almost always on a hill. I was parked facing up hill with no one behind me so I was able to drift in reverse and pop the clutch to get it started. Got back home and parked it on a hill. Tried starting it a few times, nothing. after trying multiple times over 10 min or so, one time, it finally started back up, no problem. This morning, started again no problem.

So has anyone gotten any word on what it is. I'm going to have them look at it because I can't be getting stranded. A car with 17K miles on it should not have this problem. The one theory I had was the switch that doesnt let it start if the clutch is not in. My friend had this go bad in his tiburon. He just ripped the wires out to disable that cut off.

the ign. switch is a common problem and yes heir is a TSB for it.. the techs will check for codes in your BCM.. if they find a security code then they will replace the switch or if your lucky they will replace the BCm.. depends on your vin... either way this is a common problem and it's easy to fix

The crux is wheter your security light was ON or FLASHING when the no crank occured. If it WAS it's likely the ign switch (and there WILL be a DTC stored in the BCM) , if NOT it could be the clutch switch or other starter circuit fault.

Is this one of the lights by the rest of the gauges? I was looking for anything abnormal, and didn't see anything.

I have an appointment for 10 am Friday. Jon, if you see this thread, how the hell did it take you so long to get an appt with PH??? I called today and got an appointment for Friday. And I will be noting my total mileage when I go in there. I doubt they would be stupid enough to go joyriding when I am sitting there waiting.

This happened to me once I think it was pass lock related. Did you notice the orange passlock signal when you tried to crank it?

That's why I call him fritz...
