Car rpm irregular when cold.

I have a 2004 ion redline when I turn the key it takes several seconds before starting . When started the RPM jumps up and down about 50 and the exhaust smells like rotten eggs.I have always put at least 92 octane gas and the car only has 2500 miles.

Off topic, sorry, but how do you only have 2500 on an '04?

I bought a demonstration car 2 months ago from a saturn dealer it had 500 miles.

must have'nt done very much demonstration....the sky at my dealership allready has 1500 allready

It was stored in a in a warehouse at GM than sold at an auction in july 2005 to the dealership.

the 04 i used to have had all types of irregular idle problems. i think its just caused by a bad ECM tune. Check to make sure you have the latest reflash....with my 06 all the cold start/rough idle/bouncing rpm issues are gone

I had a standing problem with the cold start sputtering. It would flare to 2000 at the crank, then, as it started coming down, it would start sputtering, causing the RPM to flutter, sometimes stalling.

I had black smoke come out whenever that happened, with a smell of gasoline. The dealer could never find the problem and the car started putting out more smoke as time wore on, to the point that I have enough carbon in the driveway to open a diamond store. At one point, they claimed it was a normal operation of the car.

To this day, I believe it is either a bad program, or something to do with when the Cam position sensor was seal was redone...
