tranny noise forces PT looser rental

well I brought in my RL today because my tranny sounded like it had been filled with pennies. I asked the service manager to take a ride with me to hear the noise, cause I know that if you leave them its pretty much always a could not duplicate. anyways, after about 2 minutes in the car she hears the noise and agreed with me that it sounded terrible so she tells me shes going to need to have the car for a few days. So now I drive the lamest rental PT LOOSER in the world, I feel unsafe in this car its soooooo slow merging into traffic is downright dangerous. I miss my Redline very badly and its been gone for like 5 hours Well I just hope that they do something instead of feeding me some lame excuse, and giving me back a broken car. I havent ever had a positive experience with a dealer thus far so im hoping that saturn of burlington will be as their service manager was today.wish me luck (im hoping for lsd even though I know thats crazy wishfull thinking.) I never even beat on my car, thats so weird my tranny is giving me issues already

That noise isn't a problem, it's just an annoyance. All of 'em do it.

I really doubt all of them make this noise. maybe they all make a little tranny whine but this is louder than my music

Mine does it. I just turn up my music. "Can of marbles" is what we usually call it.

But if it's louder than your music...hmm. I can only hear mine in 1st, 2nd, when downshifting.

cover your butt in case something happens later on down the road....

I dont ever hear any noise from my tranny except the gear rattle if im outside the car when I start it and its cold outside.

Ask Little MT about her Cruiser. I don't think she considers hers slow.

yeah I know these things make a little noise, but mine is really loud, especially in 2nd and third gear and its not a steady noise its like clink clink cllliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiink if you know what I mean. And the really wierd thing is if I am nice to the car its quieter but if I do a hard acceleration up to 5 or 6 thousand in the first three gears it is really loud for about 10 miles then it quiets back down a little???????????? I am at least documenting it so if something does happen I have my butt covered. and I dont doubt that little mt may have a fast pt cruiser, but this one that I got is noooooooot fast. Its like driving a ups truck or something it has no go at all. The service manager seemed pretty interested in the noise though I asked her if it was normal and she said definitley not normal. ohh well I will just hope for the best and patiently wait till I get my ride back so I can ditch the cruiser. My_bd I probably will have to ride up the races this week in a pt cruiser so try not to laugh too hard if you see one

My '04 made the noise, and the '06 makes it.

Does it go away when under acceleration, or when you push in the clutch pedal?

I had mine in a while back and they couldn't isolate where it was commin from. (the coffee can of marbles or whatever we're gonna relate it to today) and after 5 rentals (thanks GM) They replacesd the SC (not the problem but I appreciated the thought) and finally changed out the transmission. Gettin one in to the dealer was 3 weeks in waiting so the rental Ram 1500 had to go for something better on gas....
I get the noise from time to time but like Spooner said, it just happens....

hmm well I guess if you guys say so I will just have to listen to it, although its very hard to believe that a new car will make that noise, how come saab owners arent complaining about it? my noise never goes away and I can hear it in all gears just louder in some than others, it goes away if I push in the clutch. By the way the pt crusier has terrible gas mileage, I drove from burlington wa to bellingham which is 30 miles and then to school today which is about 4 miles and I burnt about a quarter tank???????????? I think this crusier is sick
