Air Filter

I just removed my air filter out of the air box to see what kind of difference i would get. So I go for a test run and the car starts to spit and sputter through first and second like crazy! Why the hell is that? Through third it was fine and all i did is remove the air filter. This makes me think when i install my k&n typhoon kit tomorrow is this same shit gonna happen?

Also, doesn't the car get a lot more air flow without a filter? The filter gives resistance and letting the car just suck the hell out of as much air and any dirt it can might throw off the MAF because it isn't ready for it.

I could be completely wrong, but I'm pretty sure it is too much air.

Yea I only did it for five minutes and yes i understand where your coming from with to much air but pull the air cleaner out of any other car for five minutes that runs a maf and it doesn't spit and sputter.

Thats the worst thing you could do for your motor. Especially a supercharged one. Any small amount of dirst is going to tear apart the teflon coating on the rotors. Then its on its way to ruin your cylinders.

Yea I probably would of got that code had I ran the car longer but I know k&n's flow alot better and i just don't want this problem when do the install but i'm sure i'll be fine. it seems everyone who has the kit in the south where it's really hot the have problems with the k&n's.

I have a test for Stage II guys. Do a dyno with a K&N suck tube and a OEM intake. Let's see some test results. For fun, use a OEM intake and a pair of women's nylons. Will be interesting to see the results.
