Cat converter on it's way out?

Has anyone here had little yellow spots and black spots collect on the bottom part of the rear license plate tray? The stuff that collects there is like the size of a grain of sand, and the black spots almost look like carbon and the yellow looks like some kind of insulation. The exhaust note has not really changed, and I don't drive hard at all. So I don't see how the converter could be getting bad. Anyone else get this crap, is it normal?

I get it a little bit too. But I don't really see how it could be from the cat. Unless I am missing something, which is entirely possible.

The yellow stuff made me think it could be from the converter, since the packing in them is usually yellow. Who knows though?

I though it was dirt at first too, but it doesn't seem like it to me. Especially when I can wash my car, and this crap is in the same area the next day. It's got to be something from the exhaust. At least I'm not the only one who is getting this.
