Ticking noise

Ever since I buried the speedo, on cold startup the engine ticks until it warms up. Anyone know what it might be?

b/c injectors make a ticking noise when they're cold.

Could also be lifters? Maybe they didn't like the high RPM beating they were taking.

These engines chatter a lot when they're cold, so I'm having a hard time drawing a mental picture of what you're hearing.

My car has almost always made a little ticking noise during warm-up. Maybe you're just listening harder for a noise after pegging it out?

no sp00n it's a real noise, but like I said it goes away after warm up.TWY a co-worker of mine also said it might be the lifters, well I've got an oil change soon so I'll have it checked then.

What ever itis it is heat sensative. Which leads me to believe that it is a metal compnant. Lifters or valves more than likely. Take the head off and have a look around.

Also, check the timing chain. I know on the 2.2 they have tendancy to sag, it may be hitting the guide. Normally this problem goes away after a few minutes of the engine running. Your little "escapade" may just be a coincidence. You need to pull the head off and have a look around.
