Question Tranny Question

Is this normal or is it a bad driver (slightly likely) or is the tranny a POS? So here is the situation, I want to burn some rubber with all my new fancy pieces of metal in my car I should be able to right. Well I can if I rev the engine to about 3500 or so and pop the clutch the wheels spin like they should catch and go with out giving it much throttle at all.

Now if I rev it up past 5000 and pop, I just sit there the wheels don't turn and the car goes straight to redline almost immediately.

Okay another scenario I drive the car like grandma in first gear, rolling til I hit about 2500 or so on the tach then just punch the gas the car doesn't move much faster at all. I can repeat this in second gear as well just driving normally in second then hit the gas (foot through floorboard) and the engine takes off but I am still just rolling like I am going nowhere.

So back to my original set of questions: Does the tranny suck, is it a warranty issue that needs fixed, or am I just a sucky ass driver that needs to go to school learn how to drive a Saturn?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated as I am trying to figure this out.

Cheers y'all
R.

You should never dump the clutch at 5000 or higher. Sounds to me like the clutch is fried. From how you are talking, I'd say operator error and not warranty.

Clutch could be slipping.

yeah but it is fine for normal driving (like how you are suppose to drive on the roads), but it sucks when I want to just bust balls down the road.

I'll agree with batonrouge, it doesn't sound like a tranny issue, more of a clutch issue. seems like your clutch is on its way out

Once a clutch is fried it's done. Even with normal driving if the clutch pack material is gone it will slip the momment you give it too much gas. I'm guessing that this was something that has progressively gotten worse, right? Like at first only when dumping it and then eventually while you were driving? You are gonna need a new clutch. If you like to dump it hard alot or aren't familiar with a standard or race it alot, upgrade to aftermarket. If you are going to be a daily driver and are familiar with driving it go back with stock. Regardless of what people say, that stock clutch will take a good bit of abuse before going out.

Sounds like you abused the crap out of your clutch and it's worn out now. Time to upgrade your clutch.

Your clutch, FTL

Seriously, that is some MASSIVE clitch slippage, and has nothing to do with the tranny. the clutch is BEFORE the tranny, so if it is slipping, RPM goes up, speed goes.. well... nowhere fast.

Driving normally down the road require no torque, that's why it's ok for that.
