Question Grinding noise from DS Rear

Ok, let me try and explain this. When I am driving and take a hard or sharp right turn, I get this awful grinding noise. The noise speeds up and slows down based on the speed of the car. The noise will go away once I turn the car off and let it sit for awhile. I have taken the wheel off and looked around and nothing jumps out at me. The brakes have plenty of pad left, and the rotor seems to be fine as well. My car is still stock. Any help with this would be great. Thanks!

Of course I have no idea since I don't know the difference between a tranny and a clutch problem, but IMO it could be a wheel bearing going bad. I had that happen to me on my Chrysler Concorde I had. Sounded funny until it was fixed. But it was more of an issue turning so not sure since your rear wheels would only torque a little.

Could be a caliper that sticks. I know it's happened to me some.

Ok, a question for both, if it was a wheel bearing or a sticking caliper, why intermittent(sp?) and why caused by turning right? I appreciate the help!

I dunno, my caliper has stuck a couple of times. It goes away, I got mine to by braking some. I have no idea what could cause it by turning right.

Well like I was trying to mention it becuase your tire typicall wants to go in a straight line, so when you turn you are putting a torque on to the bearing, thus if it going bad it may be grinding a little. One thing you can attempt to do however doubtful if you can reproduce it but if you want to try, jack up the rear and try to spin the tire in question, if you can't hear anything then try pushing in the tire as you spin it and see if you can start to hear any grinding. These are just suggestions, but you never know I might get lucky.

A wheel bearing will make noise when the wheel is spinning. Turning has nothing to do with it. Normally it is clasified as a roaring sound, not grinding.

The sticking brake caliper is a good possibility. Are there hot spots and burn marks on the rotor? That would be a decent indication, although that really should not have anything to do with turning either.

I'd check the wheel well to make sure that nothing is rubbing. Maybe your fender liner is loose and touching the tire when the wind pushes it. Long shot, but easy to check. Also, are you sure the blinker fluid is full?

The rotor looks good, no gooves ridges or anything. I have looked around the wheel well and everything is tightn and looks to be in working order. Also, I just had a full blinker system fluid flush, so I dont think thats the problem.

Muffler bearings then?

How often is the noise happening? Every turn? Only on full turns?

What does the cookie monster think (Shabodah)?

I had a similar problem from a brake pad that wasn't seated properly. When I went around a corner, it would fall onto the rotor edge.
