P0171 lean code, how to fix?

My mods are listed in my sig, but yesterday I just started getting the P0171 code, If I remember from the TSB's list that is a lean code. What can I do to fix this?

Although I can clear it with the interceptor, I'd prefer not to get it at all.

Turning it off is the only permenant fix I've seen so far. A few people have had luck cleaning things, and making sure things are tight, but..

Yeah, I kinda went through that today. What about HP tuners? I could have someone tune my car so it won't run lean right?

edit: also, it doesn't happen often, usually when I am idling (which I found to be odd)

The problem is the car isn't really running lean... I don't think... I should turn the code back on when I get the box back from HP Tuners and see if the changes I made to the VE tables fixed it...

What I did is simply turn off the code in HP Tuners, you can selectively kill any of them. So I've turned off both it, and the limp mode code.

Nice, I think some of us in the CFLRA are going in on HP tuners, hopefully that will be the fix, thanks sp00n!

I haven't really fixed it, I've just hidden the problem better, like any good American!

I used to get that code all the time. I took my K&N intake out and cleaned the inside of it and the MAF with electric contact cleaner and then put everything back together extra tight and haven't had the light come back on in over 3 months. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays away.

Proud to be one. In that case Duct tape will work too right?

Cleaning the MAF and TB will get rid of the code, at least for a while.

I think cleaning the TB will become part of routine maintenance for most of us.

The June 14th 2006 software update specifically address's the P0171 code. Here's what the TIS WEB site says...Part number 12610927 CVN 00009E9D new calibration to address idle surge condition also contains diagnostic enhancements for DTC P0171.

I think DOC has the original factory '06 software as well as the June 14th 2006 software update. He should be able to say what they changed and that could be incorporated into the custom software so many are flashing now. Would it be worth it verses just turning off that code? Don't know. What you guys think?

Mike
